Founded in 2023 by musicians, composers and improvisers Théo Zipper and Simon Groppe, Collectif Thöz is a Brussels-based DIY label, concert curator and solidarity platform dedicated to avant-garde, experimental and decentered music. The collective releases music, puts on concerts and residencies, and builds connections between artists through a shared, independent network. This evening will present two equally inventive and daring projects. Chinese vocalist Yi Huijun will perform her solo pieces, bringing together voice, poetry, performance and electronics. The night will continue with FRICTION, the duo led by Collectif Thöz founders Théo Zipper and Simon Groppe. Prepared electric bass, keyboards and samplers collide without restriction in an explosion of sound, driven by their taste for total music and moving freely between contemporary music, free improvisation and noise.

Yi Huijun

Jun is a Brussels-based vocalist, songwriter and improviser, originally from China. Immersed in pop and folk music from an early age, and through her journey with the guzheng, she grew increasingly close to the sensibilities of Chinese traditional music. Later, her explorations in jazz and improvisation opened another space for her to listen, feel and create. Somewhere between these worlds, she began to build a Pensieve of her own — a place for all the feelings that are difficult to articulate, they drift through sound, entering an intangible, colourless and formless sensory world.
