To present his new EP *Slow Motion Scene II* and the album that precedes it, Axel Gilain unveils his songs through voice and guitar, punctuated by sounds, thoughts and fragments of interviews triggered on a cassette player—an imperfect, nostalgic object. A post-mortem reconstruction, or a waking dream in which cinematic light cuts this intimate journey into scenes, immersed in silence and breath.

On record and live, Axel is joined by composer and multi-instrumentalist Julia Emmery. Using modular synthesizers, her voice and sound design, she enriches the scenes with subtle beats and sonic abstractions, creating an atmosphere that is both intimate and layered.**

Julia Emmery

Julia Emmery is active as a composer in the field of contemporary classical music. She has written for ensembles such as I Solisti and Ictus, and her works have been performed at Concertgebouw Brugge, the Flanders Festival, and De Bijloke. In 2024, Ictus premiered one of her pieces at the Belgian Music Days at Bozar. Her compositions also appear on the albums *Fingerprints* (2024) and *Inner Phrases* (2021). Since 2007, Julia has also been a multi-instrumentalist and singer with the eclectic retro-pop/folk band Belcirque, with whom she has released four albums: *Boite de Carton* (2014), *The Tallest Man* (2018), *Grande Fête* (2021), and most recently *Kerberos* (2026). In recent years, Julia has immersed herself in the world of modular synthesizers, exploring the possibilities of analog and abstract sound construction.

Axel Gilain

After touring jazz clubs across Belgium and Europe as a double bassist, Axel Gilain sets aside his bass and returns to his first loves: singing and guitar. The desire to take the lead and step away from his role as a sideman already emerged in 2013 with the quartet album *Talking to the Mlouk*, still on double bass, followed by Kangling’s first album *Echoes of Distant Voices* (2014), then *Graceful Machines* (2019) and *Dancing on My Own* (2022). Axel is now opening a new chapter with the desire to go further. He is taking the time to develop the staging, giving particular importance to lighting and to the writing of the performance in order to reveal himself even more intimately.
